In Japan, 8 million tons of plastic are incinerated annually.
The reason why there is no other way to dispose of it than by incineration is because the discarded plastic is not made of a single material (composite plastic). In order to return it to the traditional resin industry, single-material plastic raw materials are required, but most of the plastics in circulation in the world are composite plastics in the first place.
The current technology does not make it economically rational to separate and return composite plastics, which are made of raw materials with different melting points, to their original state, which is what makes material recycling difficult in Japan.
REMARE thought about what if we could use it as it is without separating and has conducted research with the aim of making it possible to recycle composite plastics without incinerating them. The result are unique artistic interior design pieces consisting of music boxes, furniture, tables, chairs and such...
